I want to thank everyone for the encouraging comments I received on my post the other day. I really appreciate them! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one envious of those who love working out, or those who are naturally good at yoga. After I wrote that post – and admitted to my laziness – I somehow felt a little bit of motivation creep back in. I decided I wanted to try hip hop yoga at Back Bay Yoga – convinced Nuge and Chelsee to sign on with me – and enthusiastically went after it.
Turns out hip hop yoga is regular yoga with hip hop music playing. Who would have guessed?
I have to say – I did like it more than the regular yoga classes I have taken, but it’s only because of the great songs they were playing (which made me want to dance more than do the chaturanga). Honestly, when Kanye’s ‘Runaway‘ came on, I wanted to do exactly what he was saying in his song, ‘Run away fast as you can‘.
I don’t know what it is about yoga. Actually, that’s a lie — I do know. It was really warm in there, I don’t know how to breathe right and the instructor wasn’t actually doing the moves (granted she had a broken hand) so I had no idea what to do!
Am I hopeless?
I don’t think so — I haven’t given up on yoga yet (especially because I bought a two week pass at Back Bay!). I’m going to keep trying and most importantly try to keep an open mind.
In the mean time, my friend Kate found this: Video Vixen Hip Hop class at Life in Synergy. Ummmm……. YES PLEASE! This class is right up my alley.
Marketing? Nope — this lady was meant for MTV and BET thankyouverymuuch. See you in the next 50 Cent video betchesss.
